The week ahead is among the most event-dense of the year. Geopolitical escalation in the Strait of Hormuz - with a US carrier strike group actively rearming with bunker-buster bombs in the Arabian Sea and two supertankers struck by mines over the weekend - is colliding with a Wednesday FOMC decision, a Thursday ECB announcement, and a Q3 US GDP release, all within 48 hours of each other. WTI crude, already above $103, has a structural bullish case that has rarely been stronger this cycle. The key level is $106: a break and hold above it signals the geopolitical premium is building, not deflating. In FX, USD/CHF is the most dangerous position in the complex - the CHF short has hit the 100th CoT percentile, meaning the market has never been more crowded short the franc in the past year, precisely as escalation risk intensifies. The bias is to fade USD/CHF strength toward 0.8280-0.8300. GBP/JPY offers the week's clearest fundamental long case: UK CPI printed 3.5% in September, BoE November hike odds sit above 90%, and GBP short-covering has only just begun from an extreme positioning base. Dips toward 209.00-209.50 ahead of the FOMC are the opportunity. For the full breakdown of all eight instruments, key levels, the complete data calendar with release times, and the positioning rationale, the full briefing is available to Markets Mastered subscribers.
