Where Forex Factory wins
Calendar reach. Forex Factory has been the de facto economic calendar for retail forex for the better part of two decades. Most third-party platforms (including us) source calendar feeds from the same upstream provider that Forex Factory standardised. If you only need a calendar, the free version is enough.
Community depth. The forum is an irreplaceable archive of crowd-sourced market chat, strategy threads and EA discussion. There is no substitute for reading a 200-page thread on how a setup actually behaves across years of price action. We do not have a forum and have no plans to build one.
Free, forever. No subscription required for the core product. That matters for traders just starting out.
Where Markets Mastered wins
Live market state, scored. Forex Factory tells you what's coming (calendar). Markets Mastered tells you what's happening right now: which pairs are trending, which are compressing, which currencies are being bid up. Every instrument, every timeframe, scored every 15 minutes. That is not a thing Forex Factory does.
The squeeze score. A single 0-100 number per instrument capturing how unusually tight its range is, built from Bollinger Band Width and ATR percentiles. Scores 60+ flag pairs statistically due to expand. This is the kind of read that used to require flipping through 55 charts every morning. More on how it works.
Trend breakout alerts. Day-trade alerts fire when 15m/1h/4h align; swing alerts fire when 1d/1w/1mo align. They arrive on Telegram the moment alignment confirms, with the symbol, direction and timeframe class. Forex Factory does not send alerts.
Briefings written by the team. Twice-daily reads of the market (Mon-Fri 06:00 and 19:00 UK), plus a Sunday week-ahead. Same person who's been trading these markets since 1989. Forum threads are not a substitute for someone telling you what the day is likely to deliver.
What they share
- Free economic calendar with impact filters and timezone awareness.
- Browser-based access; no install required.
- Designed around retail and part-time traders, not institutions.
Which one is right for you
You're new to forex and want a calendar + community. Stay on Forex Factory. Read the threads. Learn the rhythm. There's no need to pay for anything until you know what you're looking for.
You already know the basics and want a structured read of the market each session. Markets Mastered. The trends grid, squeeze score and morning briefing collapse what most traders try to do manually with 30 chart tabs into one screen. The 7-day free trial is the honest test: if it doesn't change how prepared you feel before the open, don't subscribe.
You're already running a strategy and want signal confirmation. Use both. Forex Factory's calendar still wins for upcoming high-impact prints. Markets Mastered's currency strength + trends grid is the second monitor that tells you whether the market is set up to actually deliver the move you're trading toward.
The honest summary
These are not really substitutes for each other. Forex Factory is a reference site with a forum bolted on. Markets Mastered is a decision-support platform with a calendar baked in. The Venn overlap is the calendar; everything else either side does is different work.
The fairest framing: if you're already using Forex Factory and finding it doesn't tell you which pair to actually look at first, Markets Mastered fills exactly that gap. If you're already using Markets Mastered and want to discuss strategies with other traders, the Forex Factory forums still have the best signal-to-noise ratio in retail forex.
