Oil is the session's centre of gravity for a second consecutive morning, but the story has shifted beneath the surface. Trump's pledge to hold off Iran strikes before the November midterms partially deflated the geopolitical premium in Thursday's New York session - yet Brent still closed above $104 and WTI above $91, because Hurricane Isaias has now shut in nearly 63% of US Gulf of Mexico oil production, removing more than 1.28 million barrels per day from the market ahead of an expected landfall Friday night. Markets are no longer trading Iran rhetoric. They are trading physical supply, and the storm is very much a live supply event.

Gold has recovered to around $4,170 from Thursday's two-month low near $4,067, supported by a modest dip in Treasury yields following Wednesday's solid 30-year auction and the dollar's pause near 18-month highs. The bounce has follow-through only if the University of Michigan's preliminary inflation expectations, due at 15:00 BST today, do not rise significantly above September's already-elevated 4.6% print. That number is the session's single most important data release for gold bulls.

Forex positioning is shifting quietly. GBP/JPY is testing the 210.00 level that the previous briefing flagged as the bull continuation pivot, while the Canadian dollar's direction will be determined almost entirely by the September jobs report landing at 13:30 BST - the first employment reading after US tariffs took effect and the last before the Bank of Canada's October 28 decision.

The full briefing contains the specific entry levels, stop placements, and post-landfall damage assessment framework that define today's execution approach - including the exact Michigan inflation reading that would invalidate the morning's recovery setup across gold, EUR/USD, and GBP/JPY simultaneously.
