Monday 10th October 2011 ~ Dexia Bank Rescued
9:00am. I am still up here at my weekend cottage in Suffolk and was up at 6:30am as I wanted to have a couple of hours trading before I go off for the day with some friends — sailing down to Woodbridge where I’ll be picked up and driven back home to Chelmsford.
The main market news this morning seems to be the rescue (by French/Belgian Governments) of Dexia Bank which has a high exposure to Greek Debt – the bank will be split into good and bad banks, so safeguarding depositors money and at the same time ring-fencing the bad debt out of the way so to speak. This does highlight potential problems with trading early on Monday morning – the news that comes out on Saturday and Sunday often moves the markets quickly so traditional trading systems are not as effective as normal. As you will see, I did not have any such problems…..
After breakfast I switched on a couple of screens at 7:30am and within a few minutes I could see a nice potential trade setting up on my GOLD chart using my trendFX system. At 8:22 I was in the market with a ‘Long’ trade and from the off it went in the direction I had hoped. Just over 30 minutes later the trade had produced a profit of +62 pips, so I closed it off and shut off the trading platform – that will do me for the morning, although I will have another look later if I get back in time for my “Evening” system. I will report back later, when I get back home.
7:15pm. I got back here to Chelmsford at 5 o’clock, and switched on a laptop in the kitchen to watch for signals on my “Evening” trading strategy. My first signal showed up at 5:55pm and just after 6 o’clock I was in my first trade – and very quickly the index reached my +20 pip target. Very shortly after I was out of the market another signal came up, and I was not due out yet, I took that trade as well. Just after 7 o’clock I was out of the market again with another +20 pip profit. Time for some supper down the road now.
Daily Target Reached ? YES (+102 pips) I traded for an hour and a half this morning plus two hours this evening.
