8:15am.    Had a bit of a lie-in this morning, my plans are to set-off in an hour or so to my weekend cottage up on the Suffolk coast and do a bit of sailing over the next four days.

As you all will know (at least I sincerely hope you do !!) today is the first Friday of the month, so it means it is once again time for the U.S. to announce their employment numbers for last month — most traders are going to be ‘sitting on their hands’ this morning, waiting to see which way the market will head after the figures come out at 1:30pm (UK time)   To learn more about the Non Farm Payrolls numbers you go to the Investopedia page here.

Because everyone is reluctant to enter the market during the morning there is very low volume, resulting in small movements and a distinct lack of trading opportunities – hence the reason I do not bother to even look at any charts or watch Bloomberg TV for the day.
